Maintenance Engineer – Abingdon
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum | Permanent | Full-Time

We’re working with our Client, a leading engineering and fabrication specialist, to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Abingdon.

This position will support two UK sites — Abingdon and Bridgend (Wales) — ensuring all plant, machinery and equipment meet operational standards, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance schedules. Travel to the Bridgend site will be required twice a month (with flexibility for additional visits as needed).

Key Responsibilities

*

Manage and maintain service schedules for all production equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

*

Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.

*

Liaise with and manage sub-contractors for specialist repairs and servicing.

*

Maintain accurate maintenance records and update internal systems.

*

Identify and manage critical spares, tools and servicing requirements.

*

Support production teams by improving equipment reliability and performance.

*

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness across both sites.

*

Assist outside normal working hours if critical breakdowns occur.

Experience & Qualifications

*

Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, ideally within welding and fabrication or a similar heavy engineering environment.

*

Strong background in electrical fault finding, PLC diagnostics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

*

Proven experience implementing PPM schedules and improving equipment efficiency.

*

Experience servicing and repairing CNC cutting machines and welding robots is highly desirable.
