We are working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Wisbech that supports children and young people who require a more tailored and therapeutic approach to education.
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships. Class sizes are small, with a strong focus on consistency, routine, and individual progress.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Instructor to deliver engaging English lessons to pupils with SEMH needs.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident in teaching English but understands that behaviour is communication. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop literacy skills while supporting their emotional regulation, self-esteem, and love of learning.
Qualified teachers are welcome to apply, but strong instructors or tutors with relevant experience in alternative provision or SEND settings are also encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and accessible English lessons tailored to individual needs
Adapt the curriculum to support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
Monitor progress and provide feedback to support individual development
Work collaboratively with support staff, SEN professionals, and familiesAbout You
Strong subject knowledge in English
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (desirable)
Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
Confident managing behaviour using positive and restorative approaches
