Join us as an Electrical Engineer Apprentice and you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the UK’s largest water and wastewater provider. Work with skilled engineers on plant design, environmental considerations, and risk identification, investigation, and mitigation, while earning a Level 6 Product Design Development in Engineering qualification to launch your long-term career. 
 
What you’ll be doing as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice: 

Shape Project Definition Briefs by defining key technical requirements 
Play a vital role in ensuring Electrical assets meet regulatory and compliance standards 
Gain hands-on experience in the engineering and environmental aspects of plant design and delivery 
Tackle real-world challenges in risk identification, investigation, and mitigation 
Be part of Electrical teams driving Thames Water’s AMP8 ambitions to 2030 and beyond 
Learn on the job with tailored training and mentorship from senior engineers Where you’ll work: 

Location: Clearwater Court Reading RG1 8DB- Hybrid 

Hours: 36-hour week over four working days plus one training day  

Start date: September 2026 

Training and qualification: You’ll study with Newbury University, a leading UK engineering training provider, with one day per week of on-campus learning. 

Qualification achieved: Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard in Product Design Development in Engineering- HNC/HND & BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Engineering 

Duration: Permanent contract with a 48 month structured programme 
  
What you should bring to the role 

5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (grade 9-4 / A-C)  
3 A-Levels grade C or above including a Technical or Engineering subject    
Travel required across Thames Water sites 
Good time management and communication skills 
Able to work well in a team and independently  What’s in it for you?
