Job Title: Street Scene Driving Labourer
Location: Lancashire, PR1 6JY
Contract Type: 1 Month Contract, with the possibility of an extension
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday]
Pay Rate: £13.05 Per Hour
Job Purpose
To contribute to maintaining clean and safe streets, public spaces, and green areas by carrying out a range of manual tasks and supporting environmental maintenance activities. This includes driving council vehicles and performing a range of labouring duties across the borough.
Key Responsibilities
Litter Picking: Maintain clean streets and public spaces by collecting and disposing of litter.
Fly-Tip Removal: Respond to and remove illegally dumped waste from public areas.
Driving: Operate council vehicles safely to transport equipment, materials, and waste.
Manual Labour: Perform various physical tasks including lifting, moving, digging, and sweeping as required.
Leaf Clearing: Assist with seasonal leaf clearing using manual and powered equipment.
Equipment Use: Operate tools such as leaf blowers and strimmers in a safe and effective manner.
Team Support: Work collaboratively with other team members to complete daily duties efficiently.
Health & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
Person Specification
Essential:
Full UK Driving Licence (Category B minimum)
Physically fit and capable of undertaking demanding outdoor labour in all weather conditions
Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
Willingness to work flexibly, including early starts and occasional weekends if required
Desirable:
Experience in a similar street cleansing, grounds maintenance or labouring role
Competency in using powered tools such as strimmers, leaf blowers, or hedge cutters
Knowledge of local area and street layout
