Our client, based in central London, is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee the strategic and operational management of the support functions within the firm.
Working closely with Partners and the Finance Manager, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality administrative, HR, compliance, and IT services, supporting the efficiency and professionalism of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage full HR function including recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation, and performance management
• Maintain compliant HR policies, employee records, contracts, benefits, payroll inputs, and absence management
• Lead staff engagement, wellbeing initiatives, training delivery, and succession planning
• Oversee employee relations including grievances and disciplinary matters
• Develop, monitor, and implement H&S policies, risk assessments, and control measures
• Lead incident investigations, maintain records, deliver inductions, and oversee First Aid/Fire Marshal provision
• Support COLP/COFA in ensuring firm-wide SRA compliance and AML/CTF requirements
• Maintain compliance policies, manage complaints, Practice Certificate renewals, CQS reaccreditation, and insurance renewals
• Deliver regulatory training, manage GDPR breaches, and track legal/regulatory changes
• Maintain website content, marketing materials, and ensure brand and regulatory alignment
• Act as liaison with IT providers, manage systems, cybersecurity, user access, and data protection compliance
• Plan and chair meetings, record actions, and facilitate internal communication
• Manage daily office operations, supplies, equipment, and facilities
• Line manage Practice Management Officer and oversee calendars, rotas, and shared inboxes
Requirements / Skills / Experience:
• Degree and CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years in a senior administrative, operational, or practicemanagement role in a law firm
• Strong knowledge of HR, H&S, finance, IT, and office management systems (LEAP/Practice Evolve desirable)
• Excellent communication, organisational, project management, and people management skills
• Ability to interpret regulations, implement policies, and work independently
