Electrical Authorised Person
Devon (Support for lodge and subsistence provided for those that to travel weekly)
On behalf of our client, We’re seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Authorised Person to join the facilities team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and management of electrical systems across a high-profile critical facility. Acting as the appointed Authorised Person (AP), you’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate as the designated Authorised Person for LV and/or HV electrical systems.
* Oversee the issue of permits to work and switching schedules in accordance with safety rules.
* Ensure all electrical systems are operated and maintained in a safe and compliant manner.
* Support planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Coordinate and supervise contractors and internal teams during electrical works.
* Carry out fault diagnosis and rectification on a wide range of electrical equipment and infrastructure.
* Maintain accurate records of all inspections, permits, and maintenance activities.
* Participate in audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and internal standards.
* Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
About You
You’ll be an experienced electrical professional with strong technical knowledge, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to health and safety. This is a critical role requiring sound judgement, attention to detail, and a calm approach under pressure.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
* Authorised Person training and current AP status for LV and/or HV systems (preferably NHS HTM 06-02 or MOD JSP375 experience).
* Strong knowledge of electrical safety legislation, best practices, and permit-to-work systems.
* Demonstrable experience in managing electrical systems in complex environments (e.g. hospitals, data centres, commercial estates).
* Excellent understanding of technical drawings, schematics, and compliance documentation.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering and compliance team.
Desirable
* Experience with critical systems (e.g. UPS, standby generators, building management systems).
* IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety training.
* HV Authorisation desirable but not essential.
