Production Manager
Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire
Salary: Up to £55,000, DOE!

About the Role
As Production Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and motivating the production team to deliver machinery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be instrumental in increasing efficiency, driving performance, improving processes, and leading team development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the Production team, ensuring a motivated and engaged workforce
• Drive productivity and efficiency across assembly, testing, and stores functions
• Monitor build times and aim for continuous improvement through performance measurement
• Coordinate production planning meetings to align schedules and ensure timely delivery
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Test teams to enhance products
• Implement Just-in-Time (JIT) processes in partnership with the Purchasing team
• Manage production floor layout and assembly efficiency to maximise space and reduce costs
• Lead on recruitment, skills development, and performance management within the team
• Liaise with Sales Managers to ensure customer FAT’s and deliveries are on time or any issues are communicated in time.
• Monitor and reduce production lead times in line with customer expectations
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain a safe, tidy working environment
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve build and test challenges
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Significant previous experience (ideally in the region of 5 years) managing production or assembly teams in a manufacturing environment
• Proven leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure
• Practical knowledge of production planning and team performance management
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Customer- and supplier-facing experience
Desirable:
• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Experience within the packaging machinery industry
• Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD tools, ideally SolidWorks
• Familiarity with the Machinery Directive
• Project management exposure
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
