Learning Support Assistant - Haywards Heath
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a respected Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Haywards Heath. Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with varying SEND profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and communication challenges.
Assist teachers in delivering adapted lessons that meet individual learning styles and needs, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all students.
Work closely with the SENCO and multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the development and delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and participation.
Use effective differentiation and positive behaviour management strategies to support students' academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Support students with personal care and mobility needs, where required.
Requirements
Prior experience supporting children or young people with SEND, preferably within a school or specialist education setting.
A strong understanding of inclusive educational practices and strategies, including differentiation, behaviour support, and alternative communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
A caring, patient, and proactive attitude, with a genuine commitment to supporting the holistic development of each student.
Excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
