A General Maintenance Operative is required for our client in Elland. Sayjo Recruitment are proud to be recruiting on behalf of this incredible charity. With over 10 properties, they require a maintenance person to join their team for general upkeep, repairs and compliance tasks. This is a temp to perm role with a view of a permanent contract after 12 weeks, subject to performance. This is a 30 hours per week role, where you will travel between properties and need to have a UK driving licence.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

* Carry out routine and reactive maintenance across hospice and retail properties

* Painting, basic repairs, basic joinery, general maintenance and other duties to ensure all areas are presentable and safe.

* Inspect buildings, drains, electrical and plumbing systems regularly and request qualified contractors for relevant tasks.

* Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

* Maintain records for Health & Safety and statutory compliance

* Liaise with contractors and ensure safe working practices

* Assist with stock control, deliveries, and ordering supplies

* Ensure accurate written and computer records are maintained.

* Support events and fundraising activities

What We’re Looking For

* Experience in building maintenance and basic joinery and repair works.

* Full driving licence (company van during working hours)

* Knowledge of health & safety regulations

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Basic IT skills for record-keeping and e-learning

This is a role that is 30 hours per week Monday to Friday and will be paid through an agency contract with Sayjo Recruitment for the first 12 weeks, with a view of becoming a permanent role with our client.

As part of the selection process, you will need to complete a DBS background check with 2 professional references. The interview process will include a practical test.
