Head of Platform Engineering – GCP 
Fintech Scale-Up ? Remote UK (based in Manchester) ? £115,000 – £125,000 DOE + Bonus + Equity

I’m currently working with a fast-scaling, award-winning fintech that’s revolutionising financial services through real-time, data-driven platforms. This is a key leadership role reporting directly into the CTO, with responsibility for a growing team of 7 Platform Engineers and full ownership of their Google Cloud Platform (GCP) estate, including Kubernetes (GKE), CI/CD, IaC, and platform security.

About our client:
This fintech has grown rapidly and sustainably since their conception less than 10 years ago with an exciting product roadmap ahead (will be happy to elaborate upon screening conversation). Their platform is built on GCP-first architecture, and they need a strong, hands-on leader to help drive scalability, automation, and reliability as they enter new markets. You’ll be the technical and strategic lead for their platform function, helping define future infrastructure patterns, mentoring (and hiring) engineers, and ensuring the underlying platform can meet the demands of global growth.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and scale a team of 7 Plaftrom Engineers within a high-growth, agile fintech environment
Own the design and evolution of the company’s GCP-based platform, including GKE, VPC, IAM, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run
Drive infrastructure-as-code maturity using Terraform, Git, and modern CI/CD pipelines
Improve service reliability, observability, and incident response using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and GCP Monitoring
Work closely with product, engineering, and security to ensure infrastructure aligns with delivery and compliance goals
Champion DevOps culture, platform scalability, and cost-effective cloud architecture across the organisationWhat They're Looking For
Proven leadership experience in platform or infrastructure engineering teams
Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is essential
Strong background with Kubernetes (GKE ideally), Terraform, and Linux systems
Experience implementing secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, SRE principles, and cloud cost optimisation
Excellent commnuication and stakeholder engagement skills—comfortable influencing both engineers and execsWhat’s On Offer
£115,000 – £125,000 base salary, depndent on experience

The interview process is 3 stages, the final interview will require travel to their office in Manchester, travel costs will be covered by the company if progressed to final stage. The interview process will be elaborated on in screening calls with myself.
