WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are recruiting Project Quality Technicians to join our growing Challenger 3 team.

This role will be based onsite at our Telford Manufacturing facility, and will work 37 hours per week over a 4.5 day working week. Shift work & overtime is not planned but may be required.

You will support numerous quality inspection and testing activities on the Challenger 3 Programme. The role will report directly into the Project Quality Technician Team Leader.

You will be responsible for ensuring quality inspection and test requirements within the programme are adequately adhered to. You will have a broad knowledge in quality inspection, testing including NDT and assurance systems, and will be expected to be able to adapt and apply their practices in a variety of circumstances.

An in depth knowledge of measurement, inspection product/process auditing planning and assurance and will be expected to be able to adapt and apply best practices in a vehicle build environment.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Integrating into the project quality team within the programme and work with other programme stakeholders to deliver a successful project.
Contribute to the delivery of the quality related project milestones customer-related programme milestones within the project.
Provide full and effective support, in assigned areas of quality activity to the project (i.e. audits, Inspections and Testing).
Support or act as an auditor in the planning, conducting and reporting of system, process and compliance audits.
Perform varied tasks associated with visual and dimensional inspection, from first article submissions through final inspection, required in the fabrication and assembly integration and test of components and assemblies of all specified material types, and other miscellaneous accessories.
Check components, tooling, S.T.T.E. of all specified material types or tooling dimensional characteristics such as; locations, concentricity's, parallelism, height, angles and squareness using precision measuring equipment.
Carry out inspection using first principles and a variety of equipment using Micrometers, Verniers, height gauges etc.
Operating knowledge of Laser Scanning and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Faro Arms. Examine materials received from suppliers, and internal manufacture, providing reports and analysis as required.
Perform visual inspection, non destructive testing (NDT), dye penetration testing and dimensional inspection of welded assemblies in accordance with requirements / drawings.

Working from engineering drawings and supporting specifications, general, written and electronic instructions, inspection check sheets, standard inspection directives and procedures: perform in process, final inspection, and test operations to assure quality standards for small components of all specified material types up to finished vehicle testing, quality of workmanship and functional performance.
Liaise with key stakeholders and process owners in non-conformance resolution and corrective actions. Ensure all non-conformances are fully briefed to Project Quality and Supplier Quality Engineers.
Maintain personal capability in the use of MS Office suite of tools and business management tools such as SAP & Teamcenter.
Take responsibility for your own routine Quality activities without supervision.
Take responsibility for non-routine Quality activities with minimal supervision.
Able to access, have clear understanding of and apply the Management System documentation.
Support certification activity for both internal and supply chain requirements.WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

UK MOD 'SC' security clearance needed (If no SC yet, RBSL will sponsor application). Candidate must declare any known concerns that they may have in achieving security clearance in their application.

Experienced apprentice trained quality inspection and testing professional who is adaptable and reliable with the ability to prioritise and work effectively to deadlines.
Excellent understanding of GD&T
Auditor status or equivalent experience
Experienced in the use and care of standard measurement tooling
Qualified and/or experienced in non-destructive testing techniques including mechanical and visual inspection techniques, dye penetration, magnetic particle and radiographic testing.
Working knowledge of Coordinate measurement equipment / laser scanning or equivalent.
Strong Quality inspection experience.
Qualified in an appropriate Quality related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Have a strong working knowledge and experience in Quality Planning and Assurance systems; policies, processes, procedures and records
Experience of ISO 9001 or similar quality related standards
A working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies including 8d / STF
Excellent communication skills.
Able to build / improve effective relationships
