Job Title: Stock Condition Surveyor
Location: Basildon, Essex
Rate: £18.02 per hour PAYE / £23.11 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (Up to 6 Months)
Hours: 36.25 per weekThe Role We are seeking an experienced Stock Condition Surveyor to support a large housing portfolio, focused on the strategic asset management of over 11,000 social housing properties. This role plays a vital part in capturing accurate condition data and supporting long-term investment planning through a significant capital and revenue programme.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct stock condition surveys on residential properties and related assets
Assess property condition, life expectancy of key building elements, and identify necessary works
Carry out health and safety inspections in line with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), ensuring any Category 1 hazards are identified and addressed
Evaluate energy efficiency ratings using RdSAP and input data for energy assessments
Prepare concise, detailed survey reports to inform future investment decisions
Work collaboratively with internal teams, external contractors, and partner organisations
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and equality frameworksRequirements
Proven experience in building surveying or architectural practice, including condition surveys, HHSRS, and RdSAP data collection
Strong report writing and records management skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld surveying software
Educated to ONC level or equivalent in a relevant field
Training or awareness of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and domestic energy assessment
