Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of their client for a Permanent Asphalt Plant Fitter based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Plant Fitter from the asphalt, concrete, or cement industry who is seeking a rewarding and secure role with ongoing professional development.

Key Duties

Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on asphalt plant machinery including mixers, conveyors, screens, and burners.

Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out mechanical repairs to minimise downtime.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure all equipment is safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.

Complete maintenance records, defect tracker sheets, and sign-off documentation.

Carry out basic fabrication and welding tasks as needed for repair and maintenance.

Support site operations including loading, unloading, and general maintenance assistance.

Requirements

Experience working in an asphalt plant is preferred; however, candidates from concrete, cement, mortar, aggregates, or quarrying environments will be considered.

Strong understanding of plant equipment maintenance and repair.

NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Plant Fitting (or equivalent experience).

Familiarity with health and safety standards and working in compliance-driven environments.

Excellent problem-solving and mechanical diagnostic skills.

Clear communication and teamwork abilities.

What We Offer

Competitive hourly rate of £17.95 per hour.

Overtime paid at x1.5 (after 40 hours per week and all day Saturdays) and x2 (Sundays and bank holidays).
