A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Burnage area of Manchester is looking for a skilled and committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a September position and will become a contracted role after a qualifying period on supply.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will be working closely with class teachers and the school's SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and provide tailored 1:1 and small group support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with additional needs
Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities
Support the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Help students to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
Record and monitor pupil progress, feeding back to teaching staff and parents
Work closely with external professionals and contribute to review meetingsPerson Specification
Experience working with children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)
Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, flexible and empathetic approach
