JOB – Head of Technical Operations
LOCATION – Oxford
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £60,000 to £70,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is working with an innovative technology company based in Oxford, currently seeking a Head of Technical Operations. This is a key leadership role for an experienced technical professional to oversee and drive all aspects of operations, development, and support across their growing product range.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the manufacturing team to ensure optimal stock levels, timely instrument builds, and effective quality control procedures

Guide the multi-disciplinary technical team (including mechanical design, electronics, software, and microfluidics), contributing hands-on technical expertise while fostering a collaborative and innovative culture

Oversee field servicing of instruments, ensuring service engineers are fully supported and customer satisfaction is maintained

Work closely with biology, sales, and customer support teams to ensure alignment across departments and successful product delivery

Take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives in technical operations and development processes

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven leadership experience within a technical or engineering operations role

A background in product development and manufacturing in a high-tech or scientific environment

Strong technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, or instrumentation

Excellent team management, problem-solving, and communication skills

A collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, small company environment
