Our client delivers a wide range of services across residential, commercial and multi-utility sectors, including geotechnical services, earthworks, plant hire, groundworks, civil engineering, multi-utilities, retaining walls, building services and road surfacing. This is a varied role supporting procurement across the full group.
About the Role
The Buyer will work within the central procurement team, supporting all projects and departments to secure materials and services efficiently and cost-effectively. The role involves close collaboration with site, commercial and finance teams, with regular travel to projects, suppliers and group offices.
Key Responsibilities

Source and purchase materials and subcontractor services for construction projects
*
Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality and reliability
*
Negotiate pricing, terms and discounts to support cost control
*
Work with site and commercial teams to forecast needs and schedule deliveries
*
Ensure procurement activity aligns with company, safety and environmental standards
*
Review material specifications and propose cost-effective alternatives
*
Use the Integrity Procurement System for purchase orders and data accuracy
*
Support improvements to procurement processes and resolve invoice queries
*
Monitor market trends, pricing and product developments
Skills and Experience
*
Experience in construction buying or procurement (construction or civils preferred)
*
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
*
Good organisational ability and attention to detail
*
Competent with Microsoft Office applications
*
Skilled in negotiation and problem solving
*
Willing to travel nationally
*
Full UK driving licence preferred
