Electrical Project Manager
Location: South Wales (projects across the UK)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (freelance also considered)
Permanent Salary: £50,000–£65,000 + car allowance
Freelance Rate: £300–£350 per day
Experience: 5+ years (Commercial or Industrial projects)
Work for a long-established and rapidly growing electrical contracting specialist delivering design, build, installation, and maintenance services to commercial and industrial customers nationwide. Due to sustained project growth, they are seeking an Electrical Project Manager to oversee the full project lifecycle from planning and design coordination through to installation, commissioning, and client handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Project Manager who wants long-term career security with a respected contractor working on technically interesting and varied electrical installations.
The Role
As part of a busy electrical delivery team, you will lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the high-quality standards expected by the business.
You will work closely with internal engineering teams, site teams, subcontractors, and clients, maintaining excellent communication and building long-term relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
* Manage full lifecycle electrical projects (planning, scheduling, delivery, commissioning, handover)
* Coordinate design reviews, detect gaps/contradictions, and ensure constructability
* Oversee installation works, working closely with site supervisors and electrical teams
* Maintain programme alignment and track project progress against schedules
* Manage subcontractors and specialist vendors throughout installation and commissioning
* Attend and record client and supply‑chain meetings to track progress and risk
* Ensure all works meet safety, quality, compliance, and technical standards
Technical & Commercial Duties
* Oversee electrical design inputs including cable sizing validation and design assessments
* Prepare and manage technical submittals, RFI logs, and approval processes
* Select and specify equipment and materials with supporting reports
* Monitor procurement timelines and verify receipt of equipment
* Conduct electrical system walk‑downs to ensure compliance before handover
* Support tender reviews and provide technical input for bids
* Compile test packs, FTOPs, and O&M documentation
Communication & Leadership
* Act as main point of contact for clients from preconstruction to completion
* Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
* Support development of junior engineers and contribute to departmental improvement
* Maintain accurate project documentation, trackers, and reports
* Deliver client training sessions in line with project requirements
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
* ONC/HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience route)
* Strong background in commercial or industrial electrical installation projects
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, design coordination, and site installation
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
* Valid UK driving licence
