Commercial Manager – Transmission & Renewables
Location: South Wales | Salary: £90,000 – £95,000 | Contract: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across high-voltage transmission and renewable energy projects. You will oversee tenders, live projects, and commercial teams, ensuring strong governance, risk management, and financial performance.

As a Commercial Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the strategy and execution of the commercial function on all tenders and projects in the region.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the commercial strategy for all regional projects in partnership with the Portfolio Manager
* Lead tender reviews, identify risks and opportunities, and provide accurate cost/value reconciliations (CVRs) and progress reporting to senior leadership
* Oversee procurement and ensure all contractual obligations are met
* Collaborate with Finance and Project Teams to optimise forecasts, cashflow, and business plan performance
* Manage and mentor commercial teams, promoting continuous development and high standards of performance
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers to secure new work and resolve disputes
* Drive improvements in commercial processes, performance, and team capability
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in commercial management, preferably on National Grid substation or large infrastructure projects
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
* Expert knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4, JCT, and FIDIC contracts
* Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Experience reviewing and negotiating contract terms
* Understanding of project controls, programme management, and risk mitigation
* Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams
* Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel across regional sites
