Justice CSCS Tutor
Location: HMP Wayland
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: From £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Justice CSCS Tutor to deliver high-quality construction-based training to learners within HMP Wayland. In this role, you will work with small groups of prison-based learners to develop their skills, knowledge, and behaviours, supporting them in achieving their qualifications and progressing towards long-term employment goals.
As a CSCS Tutor, you will deliver the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course, preparing learners for their CSCS test and guiding them through the process of achieving their construction-related qualifications. You will create an inclusive, motivating learning environment, ensuring that each learner receives the support and guidance needed to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging and interactive CITB Health and Safety Awareness courses, ensuring key principles of health and safety are clearly understood.
· Support learners in developing the knowledge and confidence required to successfully pass their CSCS test.
· Deliver training using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
· Provide high-quality, continuous assessment and feedback to learners throughout the course.
· Facilitate the qualification process by supporting learners through each stage, from course delivery to test preparation and certification.
· Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes participation and confidence.
· Provide one-to-one support and guidance to learners as required, ensuring individual learning plans are tailored and achievable.
· Encourage learners to identify and work towards personal and professional goals beyond the course.
· Motivate learners to engage with their training and develop the transferable skills needed for future employment.
· Ensure all teaching and assessment activities meet internal quality standards and awarding body requirements.
· Maintain accurate learner records, progress tracking, and reporting in line with organisational policies.
· Take part in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and industry knowledge.
· Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practice and supporting innovation in delivery.
Essential Criteria:
· Vocational qualification in Construction or a related field.
· Strong background and practical experience within the construction industry.
· Demonstrable experience in delivering training or assessing learners.
· Ability to use a variety of teaching methods to engage learners with differing abilities and experiences.
Desirable Criteria:
· Teaching or assessing qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, or equivalent).
· Experience delivering the CITB Health & Safety Awareness course.
· Previous experience of working with learners in custody or within employability or vocational training programmes.
· Commitment to personal and professional development.
· Willingness to work towards a teaching or assessing qualification (support provided during probationary period)
