We are delighted to be working on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in Crawley to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their successful and supportive English department.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT to inspire and challenge students in a school that places literacy and language at the heart of its curriculum. About the Role:
The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for A-Level teaching for the right candidate. You’ll deliver engaging and creative lessons that develop students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across a range of abilities
* Assess and monitor student progress in line with department and school policy
* Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and schemes of work
* Support students’ wider personal development and academic goals
* Participate in departmental meetings, CPD opportunities, and whole-school initiatives
* Promote a love of literature, storytelling, and language across the school community
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* A degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject
* Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 & KS4 essential; KS5 desirable)
* Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the written and spoken word
* Strong classroom management and the ability to inspire students of all abilities
* A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
