Salary: £28,400 per annum + performance bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Are you an enthusiastic and customer-focused professional with experience in a warehouse environment preferably with a counterbalance licence?

Our client, a well-established specialist merchant, is seeking a Trade Counter Assistant to join their busy team in Basildon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys building relationships with both trade and retail customers.

What you’ll be doing:

* Serving customers at the trade counter, confidently promoting products and services.

* Processing orders, sales, and credits accurately and efficiently.

* Delivering outstanding customer service both face-to-face and over the phone.

* Supporting warehouse operations including picking, packing, and loading orders, use of a counterbalance forklift.

* Maintaining high standards of presentation, housekeeping, and merchandising.

* Assisting with cash handling, banking, and administrative tasks.

* Ensuring compliance with health & safety and company processes.

What we’re looking for:

* A proactive, customer-oriented approach and great communication skills.

* Previous experience in a trade counter, builders’ merchant, or similar retail environment (preferred).

* Strong organisational and IT skills, including MS Office.

* An FLT licence would be an advantage but not essential.

* Team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to support across departments.
