SEN Teaching Assistant with Specialism in Challenging Behaviours

About the school
Teach Now is seeking a part-time SEN teaching assistant with a specialism in challenging behaviours to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Enfield this September. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, nurturing team in a school that goes above and beyond to support children with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs.

The school has a strong pastoral focus and is renowned for its therapeutic approach to behaviour management. Staff are trained in de-escalation techniques and restorative practices, and there is a dedicated SEN team on site. Classrooms are well-resourced with access to sensory rooms, calm zones, and outdoor learning areas, providing an environment that truly meets every child where they are.

The role
You will be supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 or 2 who present with challenging behaviours related to ASD, SEMH or trauma. Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO, you will implement behaviour plans, offer 1:1 support, and help children regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.

Key responsibilities
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who display challenging behaviours
• Deliver tailored support in and out of class
• Work closely with staff, families, and external specialists
• Use behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation and progress
• Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environment

Ideal candidate
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behaviour difficulties
• Calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and solution-focused
• A team player with excellent communication skills
• Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach) is a bonus but not essential

If you’re looking for a role that makes a real impact—where your patience, presence and positivity can change a child’s path—apply now.
