Bid Manager

Salary: £44,000 - £55,000 plus benefits

Hours: Full-time, working 5 days per week

Location: Northampton

As a Bid Manager, you will lead and manage bid activities to secure new contracts across waste management, municipal collection, street scene, and environmental services. You will be responsible for managing the bid process from initial opportunity assessment through to contract handover, ensuring high-quality, competitive submissions.

You will collaborate with key teams, including Operations, Legal, Finance, HR, SHEQ, Estates & Planning, and Technical Services, to develop compelling proposals and service solutions.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Managing the full bid process, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions
- Leading and co-ordinating bid teams to deliver winning proposals
- Developing detailed service designs, tender responses, and contract documentation
- Liaising with key internal departments to ensure technical, financial, and legal compliance
- Conducting market research and competitor analysis to strengthen bid strategies
- Managing bid budgets and identifying cost efficiencies
- Implementing and maintaining bid processes and best practices
- Presenting bid proposals to senior stakeholders and approval committees
- Negotiating contract terms and agreements to ensure commercial viability
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders

What are we looking for?

- Proven track record in bid management, ideally within waste management, environmental services, or similar industries
- Experience managing the end-to-end bid process, delivering successful tenders
- Knowledge of procurement legislation and routes to market
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
