The Role

As Portfolio Manager, you’ll take ownership of a varied client portfolio while leading and developing a small team of ambitious accountants and trainees.

You’ll be the link between clients, team and leadership — ensuring high standards, proactive service and a positive, supportive working environment.

This is a key role within the practice, with genuine scope to progress to partnership for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of business and personal clients

• Lead, support and review the work of junior team members

• Proactively liaise with clients, handling queries and advising on business matters

• Conduct regular client meetings and identify opportunities to add value

• Support onboarding of new clients, including fee proposals

• Ensure work is delivered efficiently, accurately and to deadline

• Review accounts and tax returns (personal & corporate)

• Drive billing targets while maintaining strong client relationships

• Play an active role in training, appraisals and team development

• Help create a positive, collaborative office culture

What They’re Looking For

• ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)

• Experience managing a client portfolio within practice

• Strong client-facing and communication skills

• Confident people leader and mentor

• Commercially aware and proactive
