Procurement Manager – Temporary Opportunity

Are you an experienced Procurement Manager ready to make a real impact? We’re seeking a proactive and dynamic leader to oversee the procurement function at a leading engineering business in Peterborough. This temporary position is perfect for someone who can hit the ground running and add value from day one.
 
The Role:
As the Procurement Manager, you’ll lead operational buyers across two sites, ensuring materials are delivered on time and to specification, supporting production schedules. You’ll drive procurement excellence - optimising processes, managing supplier performance, and aligning strategies with key stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
- Lead and develop procurement teams, setting clear objectives and ensuring targets are met
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement policies and strategies with broader business goals
- Drive efficiency by implementing procurement solutions and processes to minimise transaction costs and leverage technology
- Develop strong supplier relationships to reduce lead times and mitigate risks
- Ensure suppliers adhere to social and environmental standards
 
About You:
- Previous experience running a procurement function in a low-volume, high-mix engineering environment
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
- A strategic thinker who’s also comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get things done
- Willingness to travel within the UK if required
-  A motivated self-starter with excellent negotiation and communication skills
 
Qualifications:
- Technical undergraduate degree (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
-  MCIPS (or equivalent experience)
