Senior / Principle / Special Project Manager
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Special Projects Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing specific projects that require targeted focus and strategic planning. This role involves collaborating with various departments, ensuring project objectives are met, and delivering results on time and within budget. When not delivering special projects, work with the IT director to define the future IT Strategy.
RESPONSIBILITES:
* Lead the planning of special projects from initiation to completion or handoff to a delivery team.
* Define strategic project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
* Develop high level project plans, timelines, and resource requirements based on technical need.
* Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
* Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior management.
* Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
* Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration to achieve project goals.
* Prepare reports and presentations to share project findings and outcomes.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
* Stay current with industry trends and best practices pertaining to technology solutions.
* Identify opportunities for technical solutions to improve efficiencies.
* Provide leadership to shape the future direction of Group IT, working with the IT Director to embed the current/future Group IT vision and strategy.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Significant experience of technical project delivery in a multi business unit environment.
* Experience of budget and expenditure management in a project environment.
* Understands different Project Management methodologies such as Waterfall, Rapid Application Development, or Agile SCRUM;
* Knowledge of various project management tools to develop a comprehensive project work plan such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt and timeline diagrams, and resource schedules.
* Knowledge of techniques such as the Critical Path Method (CPM) to assess and report on risks in project schedule; knowledge of corrective action steps to reduce risks and mitigate problems.
* Strong technical knowledge with sound project management experience;
* Sound Knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture
* Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical terms
* Strong communication skills (Written and Verbal)
* Schedule Management skills
* Supplier Management
* Facilitation
* Analytical skills for problem solving within technical projects
* Change management
Qualifications Required:
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) – OR - Significant professional work experience.
* Recognised project management qualification and accreditation such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, PMI, APMP or Agile.
