Our client, a high-achieving coeducational secondary school located in Basingstoke, is seeking an outstanding Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the Executive Leadership Team from September 2025. This is a critical role at the heart of the school’s operations, ideal for someone who thrives in strategic planning, financial governance, and transformational leadership.
About the Role:
As CFO, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of the school, ensuring robust financial controls, effective budgeting, and compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. You will contribute to strategic decision-making and be a key advisor to the Headteacher, Governors, and Trust (if applicable). The role also includes oversight of other key operational areas such as estates, procurement, and risk management.
You will be instrumental in supporting the school’s mission to deliver outstanding educational outcomes through sustainable and transparent financial leadership.

What They’re Looking For:
Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
Significant experience in senior financial leadership, ideally within education, charities, public, or not-for-profit sectors
Strong understanding of funding models and financial regulations relevant to schools or academies
A track record of strategic planning, risk management, and delivering financial sustainability
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
A clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and the school’s core values
