Do you consider yourself to be a Youth Worker who wants to make a real difference to young people at risk of exclusion?

Are you a Youth Worker that has the resilience and empathy to support students with SEMH, ASD and challenging behaviour?

We are working with a progressive and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Newham that supports secondary-aged students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream school. They are seeking a passionate and experienced Youth Worker to work with pupils to re-engage them with learning and support reintegration into mainstream settings.

Your Role Will Involve – Youth Worker

* Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups, both in class and through targeted outreach

* Building trusted relationships to boost confidence, motivation, and emotional wellbeing

* Supporting students with ASD, SEMH, ADHD, trauma and other behavioural/emotional needs

* Delivering bespoke interventions focused on social skills, anger management and resilience

* Acting as a key mentor figure – supporting re-engagement with learning and school routines

* Liaising with mainstream schools, families and external agencies to support successful reintegration

* Promoting positive choices and building pupils’ readiness to return to mainstream environments

We’re Looking For Someone Who – Youth Worker

* Has experience working with young people in PRUs, APs, youth services or schools

* Has supported students with challenging behaviour, trauma, SEMH, or autism

* Uses a calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support

* Understands the importance of boundaries, routines and trauma-informed practice

* Can work effectively as part of a multi-agency team (SENCOs, Social Workers, CAMHS, EWO)

* Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

* Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth Work or Education

* Those with mentoring, outreach or inclusion experience
