This is a superb opportunity for an experienced English specialist or an enthusiastic ECT to deliver outstanding teaching and contribute to a well-established department known for its supportive ethos and high standards.

About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that promote reading, writing, and critical thinking. You will support pupils in achieving their academic goals while nurturing creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the subject.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach the national curriculum in English with creativity, rigour, and a student-centred approach.
Prepare students for internal assessments, GCSE examinations, and extended writing tasks.
Use a variety of formative and summative assessment techniques to track progress and adapt teaching accordingly.
Encourage students to express themselves confidently, both verbally and in writing.
Maintain an inclusive classroom where every pupil can thrive, regardless of background or ability.
Contribute to the English department’s schemes of work and collaborate with colleagues to drive pupil progress.
Engage in whole-school activities, parent consultations, and targeted intervention where required.
Requirements of the English Teacher:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT) with a specialism in English.
A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject.
Demonstrable classroom experience delivering English across the UK schools.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with pupils.
A genuine passion for teaching English and inspiring the next generation of readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
