The Role:
As a SEN TA, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils across the whole primary age range at a critical stage in their educational and emotional development. You will deliver engaging, creative and well-structured lessons that nurture curiosity, promote social development, and build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy.
We are currently seeking dedicated, adaptable, and highly resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream and specialist schools. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and PMLD.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with a range of SEN on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Implement EHCP targets under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
Use initiative to manage classroom behaviour and adapt resources to meet individual needs
Collaborate with teaching staff, external professionals, and families
Promote inclusion and support the social and emotional development of all pupils
Support the individual learning needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL.
Create a warm, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers, ensuring effective home–school communication.
Contribute to school life and extracurricular activities, supporting pupils’ social and emotional growth.
Work collaboratively with other teaching assistants and school staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
SEN experience
A relevant qualification (NVQs or BTECs or Diploma).
Experience within a primary classroom setting (1+ year preferred).
Strong knowledge and understanding of SEN & Behavioural needs
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
A passion for inspiring young learners and supporting their development
Essential Requirements:
Extensive experience working with children and young people with a broad range of SEN
Demonstrated resilience, initiative, and a strong work ethic
Flexibility to work in different school settings across Coventry and Warwickshire
A current DBS certificate (Child Workforce) – ideally registered on the Update Service
Excellent communication skills and a calm, nurturing approach
Desirable:
Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or other relevant SEN training
Own transport due to travel across multiple sites

Advanced Experience: Extensive experience of student success.
Leadership or Coordinator Roles: Experience with subject lead, department coordinator, or involvement in extracurricular activities.
Professional Development: Continued professional development (CPD) including advanced training or certifications that enhance teaching practice.
