Your new role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their growing commercial team. Working closely with experienced professionals, you will support the financial and commercial delivery of heritage restoration projects, including churches, listed buildings, monuments, and public buildings. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for traditional construction methods and historical architecture to develop their career in a niche, rewarding sector.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, tenders, and contract documentation
Supporting with the procurement of subcontractors and materials
Evaluating and negotiating subcontractor quotes and terms
Assisting in the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
Measuring and quantifying works from drawings and on-site visits
Monitoring and reporting project costs and variations
Supporting senior commercial staff with project financial control and risk management
Liaising with site teams, architects, conservation officers, and specialist suppliers
Helping ensure works are carried out in line with conservation best practices and statutory requirements
What you will need to succeed:
HNC, HND, or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field
Previous experience in a surveying or estimating role within the construction industry
A genuine interest in heritage, conservation, or traditional building techniques
Strong numeracy, communication, and organisational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and measurement software (e.g. Bluebeam or similar)
A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
Full UK driving licence
