We are currently working with a leading Property Maintenance provider to recruit a Subcontractor Procurement/Category Manager to join the team, working on a hybrid basis split between an office in East London, home and other sites as and when required
The Role:
The Subcontractor Procurement Manager will oversee the procurement of subcontractors providing specialist services across the group. The role focuses on governance and operational excellence rather than strategic leadership, with a primary emphasis on driving efficiencies, ensuring competitive pricing, and maintaining strong, compliant supplier relationships. The responsibility for engaging subcontractors will remain with the operational teams.
Key objectives include:
* Building strategic relationships with key subcontractors.
* Providing transparency on subcontractor spend and rate variability.
* Recommending actions to optimise subcontractor engagement and costs.
* Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to drive efficiencies while ensuring compliance.
Candidate requirements:
Key Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement processes.
* Familiarity with ESG standards and scope 3 emissions reporting.
* Knowledge of pricing structures and market rate benchmarking.
Key Skills:
* Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities.
* Proficiency in procurement systems and data analytics.
* Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Ability to analyse complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
Key Experience:
* Proven track record in subcontractor procurement and relationship management.
* Experience driving cost synergies, particularly in M&A integrations.
* Background in the property maintenance or related construction/facilities industries
* Experience implementing and optimizing procurement software solutions.
Other Key criteria:
* Demonstrates adaptability in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
* Willingness to travel across the UK to engage with suppliers and support operations.
* Holds a valid UK driving license.
* 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
