Accounts Assistant

Working hours - 30 - 37.5 hours per week (over 4 or 5 days)
Salary – Up to £30,000
We are working with a manufacturing business in Telford who are looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis. The role will be joining a small accounts team during an exciting period of growth. The role will mainly be focussing on credit control and resolving queries but will be supporting the finance team on ad-hoc duties.
As Accounts Assistant, duties will include:
* To manage and process incoming payments, maintain accurate financial records, and resolve billing issues to ensure the organisation’s revenue is collected efficiently and timely.
* Properly recording and applying cash receipts against invoices, and where necessary directly interacting with customers promptly to reconcile discrepancies and account queries.
* Regular contact with the customer to chase up payments and status of any items in query.
* Forecasting on expected cash receipts.
* Monthly reporting and presentation of cash collection performance and issues update.
* Customer statement reconciliations.
* Credit risk management for new and existing customers.
* Customer sales performance reporting.
* Analysis of business performance including customer rebate/discount calculations.
* Provide support to the wider finance team on ad-hoc duties and cover if required.
* Support master data requirements within ERP system.
* Employ adequate internal control procedures.
* Cash/treasury, bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
* General business analysis.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience/understanding of credit control is important. Experience in managing accounts with building merchants, buying societies or contractors would be ideal. The successful candidate will need to be a team player and willing to roll their sleeves up to get involved in other tasks outside of their key responsibilities.
