Building Services Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) Based in a College

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Services Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) to join a well-established estates and facilities team for a lovely college in South East London. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and compliance of electrical systems across multiple sites. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, carrying out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs, while ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on electrical systems including lighting, distribution boards, control panels, and emergency systems.

Diagnose and resolve electrical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
*
Conduct statutory inspection and testing in line with BS7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
*
Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset registers, and compliance documentation.
*
Manage and supervise external contractors, ensuring safe and high-quality delivery of works.
*
Support wider estates operations as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team.
*
Respond to emergency breakdowns and occasional out-of-hours call-outs.
About You (Essential Skills & Experience)
*
Vocational qualification in the electrical industry.
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance.
*
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) certification.
*
Strong ability to fault-find, inspect, test, and certify electrical systems.
*
Knowledge of statutory building services regulations.
*
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
*
Strong IT literacy for reporting and CAFM systems.
*
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:

Experience working on large commercial buildings.
*
Knowledge of large plant and machinery.
*
Experience within the education, healthcare, or facilities sector.
*
Willingness to undertake further training across multiple disciplines.
