CarmichaelUK is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a complex utilities package on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire, the UK’s flagship infrastructure scheme.

This role is ideal for a driven and highly organised Project Manager with a background in major infrastructure and experience managing multi-utility diversions, including water, gas, power, and telecoms. You’ll be responsible for delivering critical enabling works that ensure safe, compliant, and efficient construction progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all phases of the utilities package, from pre-construction through to handover

Oversee the coordination and delivery of utility diversions in line with programme, safety, and budget expectations

Manage a multidisciplinary team including engineers, planners, supervisors, and subcontractors

Ensure compliance with HS2 specifications, utility provider standards, and contractual requirements

Liaise with key stakeholders including utility providers, HS2 Ltd, local authorities, and internal teams

Drive programme performance, risk mitigation, and reporting

Lead commercial awareness and change control processes in collaboration with the commercial team

Oversee health, safety, quality, and environmental (SHEQ) performance across your package

About You:

Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Package Lead on major infrastructure or civils schemes

Strong technical understanding of utility diversions (minimum two disciplines: gas, water, power, comms)

Experience working on Tier 1 projects or regulated infrastructure (HS2, rail, highways, or similar)

Skilled in stakeholder management, planning, programme reporting, and compliance

Excellent knowledge of health and safety best practices and risk management

CSCS, SMSTS, and relevant engineering or project management qualifications essential

NRSWA, TWC, or AP certifications beneficial
