Finance Business Partner

The Opportunity

Are you a commercially minded finance professional who thrives on strategic influence? Do you have the ability to translate complex data into actionable insight that shapes the future of public services?

We are looking for a highly motivated Finance Business Partner to join our Financial Planning team. This is a pivotal role where you will act as a trusted advisor to Directors and Senior Leadership Teams, ensuring our resources are managed with precision, ambition, and resilience.

The Role

As a Finance Business Partner, you won’t just be "doing the books"—you will be a strategic collaborator helping to shape the financial health of the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:

*

Strategic Advisory: Providing high-quality financial insight to guide senior leadership in achieving strategic priorities.

*

Financial Management: Leading on revenue and capital budget preparation, robust monitoring, and accurate forecasting.

*

Statutory Compliance: Supporting the production of the Statement of Accounts and ensuring all statutory returns meet regulatory standards.

*

Operational Partnership: Working hand-in-hand with service managers to understand operational pressures and influence long-term decision-making.

*

Leadership: Mentoring and developing junior finance staff to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

*

Process Innovation: Driving enhancements in financial systems, governance, and organisation-wide training.

About You

We are looking for a proactive professional who balances technical expertise with exceptional people skills. Ideally, you will bring:

*

Public Sector Expertise: A solid background in local government finance and accounting policies.

*

Specialist Insight: Experience supporting high-pressure, demand-led services (such as Children’s or Adult’s Social Care) and navigating the unique financial challenges they present.

*

Forward Thinking: Proven experience in medium-term financial planning and complex financial modelling.

*

Communication Flair: The ability to present complex financial risks and data clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.

*

Collaborative Mindset: A customer-focused approach, with the drive to work proactively across different departments
