Are you a practical, reliable, and proactive School Caretaker looking for a new opportunity in a school environment?

A well-respected secondary school is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Caretaker to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and safety of the school premises. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the site remains clean, secure, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities – School Caretaker

* Opening and locking up the school buildings daily

* Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks around the school

* Ensuring all health & safety checks are completed and documented

* Monitoring cleaning standards and supporting the cleaning team when required

* Managing deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up rooms for events or exams

* Responding quickly to any site issues (e.g., leaks, alarms, heating problems)

* Ensuring outdoor areas, paths, and playgrounds are clean, safe, and tidy

* Supporting contractors on site and reporting building issues to senior staff

The Ideal Candidate – School Caretaker

* Previous experience in a similar caretaker/site manager role (preferably in a school)

* Good knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics, and general repairs

* Strong understanding of health & safety and safeguarding in schools

* Flexible, hands-on, and able to prioritise tasks effectively

* Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently and as part of a team

* Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the update service
