Salary: £84 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Daily Supply, Long-Term (8:45 AM – 2:45 PM)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to join a supportive secondary school setting in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis.
Build trusting relationships to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
Implement behaviour support strategies under the guidance of SENCOs or pastoral leads.
Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to support learning and well-being.
Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Job Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or similar needs.
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience.
Team player with a flexible and proactive attitude.
A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
