Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Family Contact Worker to work with a Manchester-based Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week (Mon – Fri, between 8am – 6pm).
Main Duties:
* To plan and provide child centred supervision of children’s family time to parents, family, friends and carers working with court orders and referring agencies contact decisions
* To provide concise, relevant and accurate recording of family time sessions and discussion with other professional and agencies in line with internal policy and procedural guidance
* To undertake assessments of child and family time sessions for court proceedings and where required prepare, present to courts and referral agencies
* To manage a caseload and ensure that client confidentiality is maintained (in accordance with procedures) at all times
* To intervene and act in accordance with safeguarding procedures within your centre and in accordance with those of the Local Safeguarding Board and referring agency
* To provide transport when required and as identified as part of a Care Plan
* To participate in regular supervision sessions, attend appropriate meetings and participate in relevant and development activity
* To observe and carry out statutory regulation procedures and policies, appropriate to the service area
* To organise, prioritise and manage workload under your own initiative in a creative and flexible approach
* To support young people in maintaining Family time with family members/significant others whilst in the care of the Local Authority and support rehabilitation plans to parents and / or connective carers
* To actively seek the wishes and feelings of children and young people, to encourage their participation in decision making
* To attend court as required as a representative of the Local Authority
Essential Criteria:
* Prior experience of working with children and their families within a social care setting
* Full UK driver’s license with access to own vehicle
* NVQ Level 3 in relevant social care subject or equivalent experience
* Enhanced DBS clearance
