Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum

A respected building services and environmental design consultancy based in central London is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead mechanical design on a range of high-quality, sustainability-focused projects. The role involves delivering detailed design packages, coordinating with external consultants, and guiding junior engineers through each stage of the project lifecycle.
The consultancy has built a strong reputation for technically excellent, environmentally responsible design, with a collaborative, people-focused approach. Projects span residential, commercial and cultural sectors in both the UK and internationally.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading mechanical design across multiple projects
Carrying out thermal calculations, energy modelling, plant sizing and carbon assessments
Producing detailed design reports, drawings, specifications and schedules
Coordinating with external design teams and internal MEP disciplines
Attending design team meetings and conducting site inspections
Mentoring and delegating to junior engineers
Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
Essential requirements:
Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical building services design
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar
Proficient in thermal modelling (e.g. IES), AutoCAD and ideally Revit
Strong understanding of building regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
Awareness of CDM responsibilities and sustainable design principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and leadership qualities
Working towards chartership (CIBSE or IMechE)
