The Opportunity
An established, multi-disciplinary built environment consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team. This is an opportunity to work on high-value, technically challenging development and infrastructure schemes, delivering innovative civil engineering solutions across projects exceeding £500 million in value.
The team provides both fully integrated multi-discipline consultancy services and standalone technical expertise. You will contribute to a broad range of projects spanning highways, drainage, flood risk, earthworks and major development infrastructure alongside a strong focus on datacentres, while strengthening your own technical and project leadership capabilities within a collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will support the design and coordination of civil engineering projects from concept through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and coordinating highways and drainage designs for major development infrastructure projects
Preparing Drainage Strategies, Nutrient Mitigation strategies and pre-planning advice
Designing foul and surface water drainage systems, SuDS schemes and minor roadway layouts
Supporting Section 38 and 278 (Highways Act) and Section 104, 106 and 185 (Water Industry Act) agreements
Interfacing with architects, MEP engineers, project managers and cost consultants on multi-disciplinary schemes
Representing the consultancy at client and project meetings, presenting designs and supporting key decisions
Contributing to proposals and bids to secure new work
Conducting site visits for technical assessments and problem-solving
Projects may include highways design, pavements, bridges, earthworks engineering, flood alleviation, pumping stations, sewerage systems and underground services coordination.
What We're Looking For
Experience in a civil engineering design role, ideally within a multi-disciplinary consultancy
Proven experience delivering projects from concept through to construction (calculations, drawings and specifications)
Strong drainage design capability (foul and surface water) and knowledge of SuDS principles
Understanding of highways and drainage agreements (S38, S278, S104, S106, S185)
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Experience using InfoDrainage (desirable)
Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Member of ICE (or working towards chartership)
You will be technically capable, commercially aware, and confident communicating complex engineering solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders.
