Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finishing Manager to join the site delivery team on a major 600-unit, 18-storey residential development in York. This high-rise scheme is part of a significant urban expansion project and presents a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the largest residential builds in the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the internal completion of apartments across multiple floors, managing subcontractors, and ensuring the programme is met to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Role

You will oversee the internal fit-out and finishing works on multiple floors, working alongside other finishing managers, sector leads, and reporting directly to the Sector Managers and Project Manager. A strong finishing trade background, attention to detail, and ability to run tight programmes in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate finishing trades including joinery, drylining, painting, flooring, tiling, and final fix M&E
Maintain programme schedules for internal works across multiple floors
Ensure high standards of quality and finish across all apartments
Oversee snagging, QA processes, and apartment handovers
Enforce Health & Safety compliance and best practice on-site
Communicate effectively with the wider delivery team, subcontractors, and suppliers
Address site issues quickly to avoid delays in handover
Represent the business professionally on a high-profile scheme

Requirements

Essential Criteria:

Proven experience as a Finishing Manager on large-scale residential or commercial projects
Strong trade background in internal finishes (e.g. joinery, drylining, etc.)
Ability to manage and sequence multiple finishing trades across high-rise environments
Strong working knowledge of construction Health & Safety, compliance, and QA procedures
Track record of working on fast-paced, high-pressure build programmes
Strong organisational and communication skillsCertifications:

CSCS (Gold minimum preferred)
SMSTS or SSSTS
First Aid
