Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Primary School in Portsmouth 

Location: Portsmouth 
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: FULL TIME

Are you passionate about supporting young people and making a real difference in education? GSL Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth to recruit a dedicated full-time Learning Support Assistant for a Year 2 class. This role is to start on 13th April on a full time basis until 22nd July 2026. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build meaningful experience in a primary school setting, particularly those considering a future in teaching or teacher training.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in helping students succeed both academically and personally. This is a varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You will be:

Supporting students with additional needs, including those with EHCPs
Providing in-class support across a range of subjects
Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions
Encouraging confidence, engagement and positive behaviour for learning
Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to support progress
This position offers hands-on classroom experience and is ideal for aspiring teachers looking to gain invaluable school-based experience before starting teacher training.

Experience working with young people or within education is desirable
Candidates with transferable skills (youth work, coaching, care, mentoring, support work etc.) will also be considered
