Job Title: Multi-Trade Operative

Location: South Ayrshire

Rates of Pay: £35,000 - £45,000 + benefits & OT

Reports To: Site Manager/Project Manager

Job Summary:

The Multi-Trade Operative will be responsible for performing a range of skilled construction tasks across various trades, including carpentry, roofing, and general maintenance. The role requires a versatile individual with a broad skill set who can adapt to different tasks and projects, ensuring high standards of workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. General Construction:

* Prepare construction sites, including clearing debris and setting up materials.

* Assist in demolition tasks when necessary.

* Maintain cleanliness and orderliness on-site.

2. Roofing:

* Perform roofing tasks, including repairs and installations.

Including but not limited too -

* Pitched roofs – slate, tiles, metals

* Flat roofs – felts, single ply membrane, liquid coatings

* Inspect roofs for damage and determine necessary repairs

1. Maintenance:

* Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks on construction sites and equipment.

* Address minor repairs and maintenance issues promptly.

Qualifications:

* Proven experience in multiple construction trades, with roofing skills as a core requirement

* Relevant trade certifications or qualifications are advantageous.

* Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and health and safety regulations.

* Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.

Personal Attributes:

* Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) checks will be carried out/required to assess the individual criminal history. (proof of this is advantageous)

* Adaptable and flexible to meet the demands of different projects.

* Be able to Coordinate, communicate effectively to minimise disruption to school operations with school staff, administrators

* Committed to delivering high-quality work and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Working Conditions:

* Work is primarily performed on live Education buildings, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions.

* The role may require lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and performing physically demanding tasks.

* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

* Quality and accuracy of completed work.

* Adherence to project timelines and deadlines.

* Compliance with health and safety standards.

* Effective collaboration and communication with team members
