Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways project in Gloucestershire. We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to take responsibility for the delivery of key elements of the works, with strong knowledge of FRC (fibre reinforced concrete) essential for this role.

The Role

As Section Engineer, you will manage a defined section of the works, ensuring delivery is safe, on programme, and fully compliant with quality and technical requirements. You will work closely with the site management and engineering teams, providing technical support and overseeing site activities.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of a section of works

Provide technical guidance and support to site engineers and subcontractors

Oversee and manage FRC-related works, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards

Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, RAMS, and programme

Manage quality assurance processes, including ITPs, inspections, and as-built records

Support health & safety compliance and site inspections

Liaise with designers, site management, and the wider project team

Assist with short-term planning, reporting, and problem-solving on site

About You

Proven experience working as a Section Engineer on highways or major infrastructure projects

Strong knowledge and experience of FRC (fibre reinforced concrete) – essential

Background in concrete, structures, or civils-heavy schemes

Experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor

Confident managing engineers, subcontractors, and site activities

CSCS card (essential), SMSTS desirable

Strong communication and organisational skills
