Experienced Electrician – University of Cambridge
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrician to join the University of Cambridge’s in-house maintenance team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll supervise an electrician and an apprentice while delivering a complete electrical service – including installations, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs – across a large and varied site with significant plant and machinery.
You’ll be involved in everything from fault finding and diagnostic repairs to working with three-phase systems, motors, inverters, fans, pumps, control circuits, lighting, and switchgear. The role also includes supervising external contractors, sourcing supplies, and supporting compliance and safety functions.
What we’re looking for

18th Edition trained
*
City & Guilds Electrical Installation Part 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 3 (2391 Testing & Inspection desirable)
*
Broad knowledge of industrial and domestic electrical systems
*
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
*
Ability to work independently and supervise others
