A well-established and reputable main contractor are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager for a high-profile refurbishment scheme located in Barrow-in-Furness. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to lead the delivery of a technically complex project involving full building envelope replacement, structural modifications, services coordination, and technical design finalisation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in main contracting, preferably with experience in regulated sectors such as defence or nuclear and will be confident managing multi-disciplinary teams through the design and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project plans with clear milestones, ensuring alignment with deadlines and client requirements.
Design Coordination: Lead and support the design team in delivering RIBA Stage 4 technical design, working closely with client representatives, consultants, and suppliers.
Team Leadership: Oversee internal teams and external subcontractors, allocating resources efficiently and driving performance.
Financial Management: Work alongside the commercial team to establish budgets, monitor project spend, and manage cost risks effectively.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all site activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially within a nuclear-licensed boundary.
Quality Control: Champion a "right-first-time" approach throughout construction, maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main interface between project teams, suppliers, and client-side stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
Reporting: Produce and present regular progress reports to senior management and external stakeholders.Experience required

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry.
Strong background in main contracting with knowledge of preconstruction planning and project execution.
Demonstrable experience managing complex refurbishment projects involving structural and envelope works.
Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Experience working under NEC3 contracts is desirable
Exposure to the defence or nuclear sectors would be an advantage
