TeacherActive is pleased to partner with a successful and expanding secondary school looking to appoint a passionate and versatile Teacher of Social Sciences to join their thriving Humanities faculty of 23 teachers.
This is a unique opportunity to teach a variety of Social Science subjects including PSHE (known as SPHERE: Social, Political, Health, Economic & Religious Education), Sociology, Citizenship, and Politics. You will work within a supportive team led by Humanities Curriculum and Subject Leaders and contribute to the continued growth of the department.
About the Role:
Deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in one or more of the following: PSHE/SPHERE, Sociology, Citizenship, and Politics
PSHE/SPHERE lessons follow a comprehensive curriculum covering social, political, health, economic, and religious education, including LORIC skills and a focus on Equalities
Teach PSHE lessons twice per fortnight in Years 8-11, with some involvement in the Sixth Form RISE curriculum at KS5
Plan and contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and enrichment activities within the Humanities faculty
Support students’ progress across mixed abilities, fostering critical thinking and engagement with social and political issues
Participate in extra-curricular activities, including educational visits and residential trips within the Humanities department
Play an active role in the Humanities team, supporting faculty growth and development
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has strong knowledge across Social Science disciplines, including PSHE/SPHERE, Sociology, Citizenship, and Politics
Is committed to delivering inclusive, engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students
Works collaboratively and contributes positively to a large, dynamic Humanities faculty
Is enthusiastic about contributing to both curriculum development and extra-curricular provision
