Location: Ramsgate

Salary - £12.60 Per Hour

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00pm till 20:00pm (40 hours per week)

Contract Type: Temporary until 18th December 2025

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Commis chef to join a school kitchen team in Kent, working Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00 to 20:00. The role runs from Monday, 3rd November, until Thursday, 18th December, offering consistent hours and a rewarding environment.

You’ll be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for students and staff, maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, and supporting the catering team with daily operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume catering, a passion for food, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

* Assist in preparing breakfasts and lunches

* Follow recipes and portion guidelines to maintain consistency and meet nutritional standards.

* Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, making sauces, and assembling cold dishes.

* Ensure all food is prepared and served on time to meet strict mealtime schedules.

* Help set up and clean down service areas before and after meal times.

* Restock supplies and inform supervisors of shortages.

* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in all kitchen areas.

* Follow food safety regulations, including temperature checks, allergen control, and proper food storage.

* Adhere to HACCP, COSHH, and school/college catering policies.

Candidate Requirements:

* Proven experience as a chef in a similar setting

* Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00–20:00

* Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards

* Must hold a current ENHANCED DBS issued within the last 3 months or registered on the update service

* Reliable, punctual, and professional
