A well-established school is seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant / School Caterer to join its catering team and support the delivery of a high-quality, compliant and efficient school food service.

This is a busy, fast-paced school kitchen and the successful candidate must be able to step into the role with prior school catering experience and a strong understanding of working within an educational setting.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting the preparation, cooking and service of meals in a school environment

Assisting with food preparation in line with set menus and portion control requirements

Serving pupils and staff in a professional and friendly manner

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and dining areas

Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures at all times

Supporting stock control, deliveries and basic kitchen administration as required

Working effectively as part of a school catering team to meet service times and operational demands

The successful candidate will:

Have previous experience working within a school kitchen or educational catering setting

Hold a good working knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety procedures

Be reliable, organised and able to work efficiently under pressure during service times

Be confident working with children and within a safeguarding-led environment

Be able to follow instructions, menus and procedures accurately

Be able to start work and perform effectively with minimal supervision

Important information

This role is offered on the basis that candidates already have the required school catering experience.

Training is not provided; applicants must be able to carry out the duties from the outset.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with safeguarding regulations.
